World Psoriasis Day 2014

Psoriasis/psoriatic arthritis have a huge impact on people’s life and these devastating conditions need to be taken more seriously by national and international authorities. The voice of the psoriasis community must be heard and we must approach politicians, health care- and decision makers to improve access to effective treatments. To be the most effective advocate for the psoriasis community we need to present facts and relevant information.

We also need to educate  healthcare decision makers, for example governments, physicians and all those responsible for psoriasis care/ medicines, on how they can actively take part in making a positive change for people with psoriasis. As a result the steering committee has chosen the following theme for 2014:

Building a better world for people with psoriasis

At the annual World Psoriasis Day Supporters Training Meeting in Frankfurt, June 8, the International Federation of Psoriasis Associations (IFPA) announced that it is launching an online survey to help identify the tools needed to improve the lives of the more than 125 million people who have psoriasis.

The survey, which contains 17 different “tools”, aims to identify strategies and activities that IFPA, its members and other stakeholders can use to advance psoriasis education, advocacy and awareness. Respondents can choose up to five tools as well as make their own suggestion.

Preliminary results of the survey were presented on World Psoriasis Day and the final results will be announced at the 4th World Psoriasis & Psoriatic Arthritis Conference in Stockholm July 8-11, 2015.

We need your vote! Click on the image below to get to the survey, and please share the survey with other psoriasis patients, with your family and doctor. Every answer matters.

World Psoriasis Day 10 years

2014 marks the ten year anniversary of World Psoriasis Day, which was initiated in 2004. We wish to celebrate the many activities and campaigns that psoriasis patient associations, medical societies, hospitals and other stakeholders have carried out over the past ten years, and therefore ask you to do the following:

1. Choose a photo that illustrates your most successful or inspiring World Psoriasis Day-activity during these ten years.
2. Please send the photo to hap00middle@photos.flickr.com. What you write in the subject line of the e-mail will be the name of the picture, so please write there what the activity was, where it took place and which year. For example ”WPD awareness walk Stockholm, Sweden, 2009”
3. The photo will be automatically included in the  World Psoriasis Day photo gallery. Please note that photos featuring brand names or in other ways deemed inappropriate will be removed from the gallery.
